Case study: Sam Bush, Kitchen Designer

13 Apr

When Sam saw a Kitchen Designer job come up at one of our Peterborough branches he knew it would be a great opportunity to progress his career. Being a company in the Travis Perkins Group is one of the reasons that Benchmarx can offer our colleagues more than just a job. Sam has experienced first-hand the support we give our colleagues to carve out rewarding careers and whatever their passion we have the training tools they need. Here’s some words from Sam on what it’s like to be a Kitchen Designer at Benchmarx:

“I thought it would be a great opportunity to start a new career where I could progress”

This was Sam’s first thought when he heard about the apprenticeship that had come up at his branch, and he’s not wrong. The “Learn and Earn” Apprenticeship Programmes give our new colleagues access to plenty of training, including personal development, people management and supplementary courses. These programmes are run by the Travis Perkins Group – Benchmarx’s parent company – and help colleagues like Sam reach their full potential.

“Seeing the customers over the moon with their new kitchen is the best thing about the job”

Our Kitchen Designers are involved in every aspect of designing the customer’s kitchen - right from the conception, throughout the planning and up until the moment the customer sees their kitchen for the first time. And for Sam, it’s seeing the end results from one of his designs being presented to the customers that makes his job so rewarding.

“The biggest benefit of working for Benchmarx is the job security”

For Sam, this job stability is a major benefit of working under the Travis Perkins umbrella. He is a part of the UK’s biggest builders’ merchants and this particularly appeals to Sam because of the promising career paths and the option to work for different brands which are part of the Travis Perkins Group.

“You’ll have loads of support and encouragement from everyone”

The advice from Sam to anyone thinking of joining Benchmarx as a Kitchen Designer is simple - do not hesitate. From his experience, Sam can assure that you’ll receive fantastic support right from the moment you step into the branch.

“Outside of work you can find me either watching or playing football”

When Sam isn’t helping our customers bring their kitchen designs to life you can find him engrossed in football. Of course, he still makes lots of time to hang out with his friends and spend days out with the family too.
