Case study: Scott Husband, HGV Driver

15 Oct

As a leading insulation and interior building products distributor, CCF is an integral business within the Travis Perkins Group. At CCF, we are always looking for new colleagues who are passionate about their driving career – just like Scott Husband is. We approached Scott to come and work at CCF when we opened a new branch, and the rest is history. He enjoys all the benefits that come with working in a big company. Here’s his story:

“I got my HGV license at 20 while serving in the army”

Scott was trained to drive a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) from a young age and has used this training to build a career. He originally worked as a warehouseman and was promoted to HGV driver by demonstrating that he was a competent worker and conscious of the Health and Safety regulations.

“My favourite thing about working at CCF is my Monday to Friday schedule, and the people”

Having a regular routine allows Scott to spend time outside of work with the people that he loves. When he is at work Scott enjoys interacting with people from all walks of life. While a Driver job might seem like it can be a solitary profession he gets to chat with people throughout the day whilst he fills out paperwork and checks over his vehicle.

“When I’m not at work I’m either watching the football, walking the dogs, or spending time with my granddaughter”

Scott has a young granddaughter who he loves to spend time with at weekends. He enjoys a very active lifestyle and watching sports.

“Come with an open mind and be fully aware of H&S”

Scott gives very good advice here to anyone looking to join our team as a Driver. Having an open mind will allow CCF to help you find the role that you’re best suited for. Health and Safety is always at the forefront of our minds in terms of business operations, so if, like Scott, you respect the procedures you can expect a successful career working for the Travis Perkins Group.

“Working within a big company has a lot of benefits”

Like many of our staff, Scott enjoys that he can save money with our benefits package. We are very supportive of staff having a good work-life balance and the large scale of our business allows us to explore different employment options. With 20+ leading businesses in our group, we can offer you exciting career development opportunities and you could build a career as an HGV driver like Scott has.

Our drivers are vital in supporting us to help continue building Britain. If you’re interested in becoming the newest member of our team then take a look at our latest Travis Perkins Group vacancies.
