Jordan, Management Apprentice

20 Mar

I’m currently working at CPS as a Management Apprentice: in November, I started on the Travis Perkins apprenticeship scheme, so I’m fairly new to life here! In my day to day role, I’m responsible for serving customers, dealing with telephone enquiries, and general warehousing. Apart from that, I also have to fit in my course work, which will hopefully allow me to pass my apprenticeship and reach the next level of my career.

I’ve had quite a bit of industry experience before starting here. My father is a multi-trader, so I’ve had experience helping him out as a tradesman, and when I was 19 I worked for Screwfix for three years, working on the Trade Only counter. In November, though, I received a call from the Branch Manager of my local CPS store, asking me to come in for a job interview, as I’d been highly recommended by the customers I’d served at Screwfix.

Though I’ve only just started, I’m really enjoying the role. The best thing about my job is that I get to build close relationships with customers, and really get to know them, and their business. Knowing that I’ve helped to build a friendly atmosphere and made it a great place to shop really makes my day.

Working at CPS is also really good fun. There’s a real family feeling at the branch: everybody is made to feel like they really belong to the team, and when I started I was made to feel at home almost at once! It really helps us to perform at our best, and means that the staff and customers both go home happy.

If you’re looking to join an efficient, friendly, and driven company, who will help you to develop and grow in your role, look no further. I couldn’t recommend CPS highly enough.
