Business Development Manager - South East

Field Based Role- Covering the Essex / Norfolk areas


Travis Perkins are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager within our Plumbing and Heating Division.  It’s an exciting time to be joining the division as we embark on a 3 year transformation journey to create a stronger, efficient and more profitable business. The role:

Reporting directly to the Sales Director you will manage an agreed list of approx 100 accounts. You will proactively gain intelligence of their new developments, details of preferred subcontractors and share this information with the wider PTS & CPS account management teams, to ensure we are maximising our supply chain agreements.

  • Seeking out new business within a set geographical area, introducing key PTS & CPS suppliers and securing supply chain agreements for PTS & CPS.

  • Producing plans to identify new markets and new market challenges with special emphasis on added value products and services.

  • Be actively involved in the recommendations to existing/new customers products within the supply chain.


What we are looking for:

This is a highly visible role which demands an individual who will relish the opportunity to genuinely influence the shape and size of the organisation.  You will be expected to conduct a demanding field based role, assuming sales responsibility for the business area.


The successful candidate will have a proven track record in creating business supply chain conversations and specification, in other words, they will know how to sell and generate innovative ideas that come from a deep understanding of the customer, product and industry.


You will have the ability to define and implement appropriate sales strategies and will have the skills to assess the needs of the marketplace, anticipate change and to achieve/exceed agreed sales targets.  You will possess the flair and ability to think ‘outside of the box’, to see the whole picture and to genuinely make things happen. You will be highly credible, tenacious and creative, you will know how to generate business and ideally have a background within the building products (plumbing, heating, fittings, etc), automotive or similar.
