The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in buying. Joining our teams as a Category Assistant, you will be a valued part of the Commercial Department. You’ll support the Category Manager, adopting responsibility for one of our varied product lines and ensuring it is the number one choice for Wickes’ customers.
You will see your product through its journey from its original source, anywhere in the world, right through to it being put onto the shelves in one of our stores. With day to day responsibilities including liaison with suppliers, creating information to go onto our product packaging and analysing the market to see what our customers want, you will gain valuable exposure to the commercial world and develop vital skills to build a successful career.

What we are looking for
If you’re looking to start a successful buying career with the Wickes team you will need to be great with numbers, sharp with data and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
As a part of a hard working, dedicated team you will need the confidence to build relationships, be prepared to work at pace, hold your own under pressure and most of all not be afraid to get stuck in.
We are looking for individuals that are, ideally, educated to degree level and have been awarded a 2:2 or above in a Business, Marketing, Numerical or Science related degree.
On top of your academic achievements and experience, we’re looking for a real interest in gaining exposure to the commercial side of the Wickes business as part of developing your career with us
