The Role
 
Working as part of the BSS Leadership Team, the Head of Own Brand will lead the own brand commercial team in order to deliver and develop the Boss brand proposition. 

The Boss own brand carries with it over a 100 years of heritage and is synonymous with quality.  The long term success of the brand has been built on a solid reputation for the quality and value of our products.  The continued growth of the Boss/own brand business is central to the BSS strategy and this high profile role will own and drive the brand growth agenda.  This pivotal role will have ownership of all own brand external supplier relationships including all commercial terms with the suppliers ensuring all opportunities are maximised.
 
 
Principle Accountabilities:
 
  • Working across multiple functions the ability to work in a complex stakeholder environment is pivotal to the role.  As a key position in the business senior leadership team this role also offers a potential succession route to board level, therefore the ability to influence and engage at all levels is essential.
  • Drive and execute an omnichannel trading plan to maximise own brand participation across core categories
  • Manage all internal department relationships for own brand including sales, operations, technical, supply chain, finance, marketing, training and digital to ensure all departments understand and are aligned with the brand proposition and development
  • Leading the development and delivery of the category strategy aligned to the business strategy and the 3-year plan
  • Development of the global sourcing plan to improve return on invested capital, ensuring that total cost of ownership is understood and availability of product is maximised.
  • Drive continual product and customer experience innovation in the own brand portfolio to ensure future growth
  • Development and management of the own brand commercial teams; contribute as a senior leader in the BSS business
  • End to end ownership of the product lifecycle from range creation to clearance of stock 
What are we looking for?
 
Almost akin to a GM role, this role presents an opportunity to fully develop and grow the Boss brand. You will be fully autonomous and accountable, so proven experience of managing and leading commercial category teams in a large complex organisation is a must. Ideally with knowledge of plumbing and heating / HVACand supplier / industry dynamics. 
 
You will have direct responsibility for forging strong and credible relationships,therefore a natural coaching style and proven track record in inspiring performance is a must.

The breadth of the role encompasses key relationships across buying and sourcing (product, category and commercial) and Marketing, Sales and Operations, and together with  strong applied analytical skills - you’ll use data to drive decisions and shape and execute the commercial strategy.
 
Experience or working in a key commercial leadership role currently within a fast-paced and matrix’d group environment is a must, as the role requires exceptional communication and influencing skills engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders both internally across the group and externally too.
