Legal Counsel - Commercial

We, at Travis Perkins, have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to join our dedicated in house Corporate and Commercial legal Services team as Legal Counsel in the General Counsel Office. In this role you will be based at our head office in Northampton and will be responsible for providing commercial and pragmatic legal advice to support and mitigate the risks to our trade-focused businesses and central functions.

Utilising your excellent communication skills, you will be advising all levels of management on legal issues and business problems. You will work proactively, with the necessary stakeholders, to make the complex simple, and mitigate contractual and legal risk to the business whilst meeting commercial objectives. Partnering with the business, you will provide advice on a wide variety of commercial legal issues, including contract drafting and negotiation, dispute management and regulatory and compliance issues, keeping in mind key strategic goals.

Alongside the above you will also be responsible for:

• Instructing, when appropriate, and managing any outsourced work with our external legal panel.

• Contributing to development of the commercial legal team, the General Counsel Office and their ways of working to meet the evolving needs of our business.

• Networking and building relations with central and divisional functions.

• Preparing, delivering and maintaining training throughout our businesses.

• Opportunity to work with Head of Legal and Senior Legal Counsel on more complex projects.
