We are Travis Perkins plc. With over two centuries of experience leading our industry, we've developed our early foundations into a diverse network of specialist brands, providing an unrivalled level of customer service from over 1,400 branches across the UK.

As a nationwide business, high-performance benchmarks are regularly set - and regularly beaten. We give our best, to be the best. Pushing ourselves to be bold in the pursuit of innovative solutions that can drive customer experience, profitability, and employee satisfaction. We share our knowledge, understanding that we are better when we come together and embrace what makes us, us.

But primarily, we care. We care for our customers. We care for our colleagues. And we care for you - our applicants.

We are now welcoming applications for an experienced, motivated, and passionate Operational Support Manager to drive success across our branches in South London and Kent.

What you will do

Joining the existing team of three Operational Support Managers, you'll quickly become an expert in your dedicated patch of South London and Kent, supporting the branch management network to identify, diagnose, and seize opportunities to improve their operations.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll provide first class support to drive a high standard of operational and safety compliance and high performance against a range of financial and operational targets. You'll be a specialist in 45 branches (Travis Perkins, Managed Services, and Benchmarx), ensuring to be visible and accessible for stakeholders across the entire patch.

You'll understand the importance of continually driving our safety culture, driving key performance measures and general safety awareness. You'll keep branches accountable for their actions and risk assessments, supporting branch management as required with their processes.

Stock and transport management will be key to the success of our branches, as we drive efficiency, stability, and safety to underpin customer satisfaction and branch profitability. You'll support branch management to review damage values, reviewing opportunities to improve stock management practices and general facility optimisation. We can't deliver our stock with vehicles off the road, so you'll support your region in managing and optimising their fleets and vehicle efficiencies, to keep our deliveries going and our drivers smiling.

Transparent expectations

  • Whilst based out of one central branch with modern office facilities, you'll look to complete an average of three days on site per week to complete at least six site visits. You'll be a master of time management to ensure efficiency alongside your travel and genuine care for your role.
  • Whilst we are open to the successful applicant working remotely on occasion, we believe that great performance in this role will require you to be visible and actively involved in the day-to-day of Travis Perkins branches.

What will success look like?

  • A notable increase in performance measures across your region, including KPIs for safety, vehicle utilisation, compliance, and stock management.
  • Increasing confidence and performance of the branch management population, reducing performance variations and improving branch stability.
  • Better utilisation of branch space to drive profitability through waste reduction.

Who you are

  • Successful Branch Management experience, to grant credibility to your knowledge and advice
  • A data-driven professional with an analytical mind and an eye for compliance
  • Meticulously organised, capable of multi-tasking in an agile environment
  • A visible leader, with a flexible leadership style to suit different teams, environments, and situations
  • An influential communicator, confident in presenting to senior stakeholders in a range of environments
  • Confidence in delegation, managing your workload optimally to prioritise opportunities for improvement
  • Committed and tenacious, with patience for the compound interest of small/local implementations

We're proud to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to building a diverse team. No matter your background, we believe in giving everyone the opportunity to succeed. Lay the foundations of your Travis Perkins plc career today - click apply below to start your journey.
