Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Operations Controller to work within DPD in Northampton. With your proven track record in leading large teams, you will be managing a busy Operations team taking responsibility for the delivery of a complex schedule of projects across a large marketing agency of c.50 people managing it on time and within budget.


Within this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • All process design and change implementation across DPD and business unit touch points.

  • Identifying improvements and opportunities to implement best practices, ability to make a positive impact to the team and customer resulting in positive customer feedback and a streamlined service.

  • Influencing c.50 colleagues at DPD and 300 customers in business units to adopt new systems, process and ways of working.

  • Creating training and support cultural changes to new ways of working.

  • Controlling, planning and scheduling c.£8M  / 6,000 jobs, managing delivery within capacity and resource levels through the most cost effective solution.

  • Identifying the key areas that we need to measure across DPD, implement KPIs. Use the KPIs as part of a continuous improvement programme to measure, make improvements and govern production.

  • Communicating schedules to and manage progress, flag issues early to mitigate risk and increased cost.

  • Demonstrating strong commercial acumen, control and generate client quotes through accurate estimate of internal capacity, people and material costs. Measure profitability of quotes vs actual. Create rate cards through regular benchmark of external market.

  • Management of c.£3M of Print / Point of sale from 3rd party suppliers, implement procurement best practices.

  • Relationship management of 3rd party suppliers, monitor service levels, drive innovation.

  • Business system owner, manage system change/improvements and supplier performance and relationship, including contract negotiation and future development.

  • Managing team and client communication, training and engagement.

  • Leading projects that will drive improvements or introduce new initiatives.

  • Managing a Client Admin team, Workflow and Print buyers.

  • Recruiting, training, motivating and developing a team capable of delivering ‘best in class’ results.
