We have a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in buying. Joining our teams as a Commercial Category Assistant, you will be a valued part of the Commercial Department providing support to the Category Manager.


Role purpose:

You’ll support the Senior Strategic Procurement Manager for global sourcing, gaining responsibility for developing insight into our suppliers performance to support and take part in key negotiations with our suppliers.  You will be working across many of our product categories understanding the opportunities and challenges that are being faced across our worldwide supplier base.You will gain valuable exposure to the commercial world and develop vital skills to build a successful career

Key Responsibilities: 


● Understanding data and providing reports and insight whilst working to tight deadlines and managing expectations. 

● Being proactive in challenging and correcting inaccurate information to ensure the reports are reflective of actual performance. 

● Developing and automating regular reports and ensuring all requirements are captured. 

● Maintaining accurate data in Cost Management tools and manage robust cost change process 

● Working closely with Far East team or Agent to maintain accurate product cost file, COGs benefit trackers and fees tracker

● Supporting Senior Procurement Manager on project management and delivery of all tender programs

● Communicating effectively with Wickes Far East office or Agents on daily basis 

● Managing the administration of Trading Agreements and supplier contracts through the signoff system


What are we looking for?


● Business, Economics, Numerical or Science related degree 

● Experience in global sourcing is desirable 

● Ability to manage large sets of data 

● Have an eye for detail 

● Ability to prioritise their workload and manage conflicting deadlines and be comfortable switching between different tasks. 

● Strong analytical skills are required, with the ability to draw conclusions and articulate their findings and analysis. 

● To demonstrate their ability to work with both Excel, Google 

documents to develop reports. 

● To be driven and resilient when faced with obstacles. 

● To be enthusiastic and demonstrate a proactive approach to delivering results
