We are now looking for a talented Technical Architect to join our Network Service Team...
Role Purpose:
You will be accountable for defining standards and templates in conjunction with the Solutions Architect and working with the engineers to deliver solutions for the end to end Network Service team, that adhere to company standards. You will be responsible for the detailed designing of networks and its components, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, other data, also voice for fixed and mobile telecommunications systems and call centres.
This is a specialised and IT technical role and you will be pivotal in ensuring the designs are fit for implementation into the Network Services delivery and run team.
You will be required to;
Support the IT network strategy and advise on the effects of network growth on existing network traffic and ensure alignment to the service roadmap and determines the most suitable hardware and software components to be utilised and advise stakeholders on new or emerging technology.
Compile the detailed design of components based on robust standards and templates working with engineers to make sure that these standards fit business requirements and are practical and achievable.
Perform network modelling, analysis and planning for upgrades of network hardware and software or reuse of components as required. Consider security when designing a network, supports when vulnerabilities arise by implementing security patches or other countermeasures.
Advise and support the component and configuration activities - sometimes being hands on with solution implementation and deployment activities for completing solution builds and issue resolution, as required.
Coach team members, project/programme solution architects with input regarding candidate solution options for statements of work and solution designs.
Own the process that ensures development project teams have access to, and follow, design standards, develops test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects and advises on network change impact and risk mitigation when network solutions are being transitioned into live service.
Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems. Advise the service and engineering teams on network related problem and incident management by investigating and identifying root cause for resolution.
It would be great if you had…
Degree-level; BTEC, HND or degree in a computer sciences, information technology, software engineering or related field related subject.
At least 5 years working experience on Network Services.
Experience with project lifecycle technical design; hands on experience on two or more significant programmes.
Experience with many network appliances such as load balancers, proxy, reverse proxy and WAN concentrators.
Advanced knowledge of: network virtualisation technologies including MPLS and VRF; network protocols such as BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and EIGRP; firewall technologies - ACLs, Proxies etc; routing and switching technologies; IP and Mobile Telephony technologies.
Articulate communicator with an open style; good written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce clear, concise, detailed documentation and coaching materials.
While not essential, the following would be desireable...
TOGAF Qualified.
Certification in one or more Cisco or Juniper Certifications.
ITIL Qualified.
Experience with VOIP components; converged networks; and of Data Centre technologies.
Good knowledge of: Quality of Service; of tunneling protocols such as IPSEC, GRE, L2TPv3; of high availability protocols such as VRRP, HSRP, LACP, PAGP; and of IPV6; and how to implement each of these into a corporate environment.
