How important is this role to the business?

We are looking for a truly inspirational Regional Director for our Tool Hire business, demonstrating vision and ability to lead from the front, drive ambitious growth through proven people and strategic management, whilst focusing on safety and our customers, this role is located in the South East.

The Role

Reporting to the Tool Hire Managing Director, you will be responsible for a region that has over 160 Tool Hire locations. Leading through your team of Regional Operation Managers and working extensively with the Travis Perkins Regional Directors your role will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Tool Hire business, whilst maximising sales opportunities with new and existing customers.  Expected to proactively contribute to the Business Unit strategy you will ensure achievement and improvement upon the agreed target set in the annual operating plan and continuous improvement in line with company 5 year plans. Whilst directly responsible for a team of 5, you will have indirect responsibility for the Tool Hire operation within the region, therefore influencing skills at both a senior and operational level are a prerequisite.  

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Stay Safe team to ensure that the Tool Hire business takes a proactive approach to all matters concerning Health & Safety in relation to colleagues, suppliers and customers.

  • You will be a key contributor to refining the Tool Hire Strategy, responsible for identifying and proposing innovative solutions to key business opportunities.  

  • You will prepare and agree with the Tool Hire Managing Director a plan to continually develop the Tool Hire business within your region.

  • Working with the Regional Managing Director and Regional Directors you will ensure the team are aligned to deliver and expand performance.

  • You will review financial performance of the Tool Hire business to ensure monthly sales, margins, overheads and levels of utilisation are supporting the achievement of the AOP.  Where areas and trends of concern are identified, you’ll ensure appropriate plans exist to rectify promptly.

  • Through influencing our Regional Directors, you will ensure the delivery of high performance standards within your Region in order to deliver the AOP, compliance, and best practice, promoting the Tool Hire offering at every opportunity.

  • As leaders, you will lead, motivate and inspire a team of Regional Operations Managers in Tool Hire by taking a proactive role in recruitment, performance and career management and ensuring adequate succession plans are in place.

  • You will understand your competitive landscape and will foster solid relationships with your key customers in order to retain and build sales.

With exceptional communication and influencing skills you will have the ability to engage with a diverse set of stakeholders and be able to make informed decisions.
