We have an opportunity for a 2 year training contract as a Trainee Solicitor to join our 40 + dedicated General Counsel Office Team, based in our Head Office in Northampton.

You will be offered a variety of core seats including Property and Commercial (focusing on a new seat every 6 months), which will provide exposure to different areas of legal practise and enable you to grasp real hands on experience.

This is a great opportunity to train “in house” in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will be expected to be proactive in developing a deep understanding of the business. Your excellent communication skills and law knowledge will help you succeed within the position, as you will gain a great understanding of the business and become a trusted business advisor to your colleagues at all levels, both within the immediate team and wider business.

Your main accountabilities will be to:

• Provide legal advice, transactional services and support to the Group.

• Carry out detailed legal research, including reporting to the business clearly, pragmatically and commercially.

• Work effectively as a team member with the various teams within the General Counsel Office to develop an understanding of their approach to delivery of legal services to the wider business.

• Learn and develop the ability to work in-house, to enable the business to make operational decisions.

• Develop a broad understanding of the role of an in house solicitor.

With your strong communication skills, you will develop long term relationships with members of the General Counsel Office and we are looking forward to supporting you in utilising your 2:1 Degree and LPC course (Distinction or Commendation) in a live situation.

Along with the above, you’ll also need:
- UK Driving License and own transport due to the opportunity for a secondment, within one of our panel firms.

- We happen to like complexity within the TP Group, so you’ll need a willingness to learn as you’ll be supporting 21 business units and to progress your knowledge and experience further, we will support you in completing your PSC.
