Apprenticeship spotlight: Tina Campbell

For us Apprentices are the future of our business. They’re not only our future pipeline of specialists, but also current colleagues developing themselves even further on programmes within the business. We love to shine a spotlight on our wonderful apprentices learning, earning and working on our array of 38 programmes across the Travis Perkins Group.

1. What first attracted you to the programme?

My main aim was to gain all necessary knowledge to help me progress in my career. My Line Manager brought the Apprenticeship to my attention as she was aware that I’m keen to progress within the company.

2. How have you been supported throughout the programme and beyond?

I have had regular reviews with my Line Manager and one to ones with my Coach, who’ve allowed support time I need for my Apprenticeship work within my working day.

3. What’s your favourite thing about being on an Apprenticeship programme with the TP Group?

I have really enjoyed how it has enabled me to broaden my network. It has enabled me to meet colleagues across branches, albeit virtually due to the pandemic. This has enabled me to lean on others for support who are in job roles that differ from mine to help me with different modules, for example, warehouse, branch sales and commercial.

4. How has the programme set you up for success?

I feel I am gaining the experience I need to help me fulfil my goal of progressing within the company. I have learnt how to be more confident when dealing with customers and suppliers, whilst also giving me an insight on different parts of the company.

5. What has been your proudest moment since working with the Travis Perkins Group?

My proudest achievement throughout working within the TP group is how successfully our team managed to adapt to the new working from home way of life throughout the pandemic. We have had to change many aspects of how we carry out our day to day roles and the way we work. Although our roles have not changed much from home, we have had to work on communicating with branches and customers much more efficiently. It has proven how well we work together as a team; how supportive the group has been throughout the challenges we have faced is outstanding.

6. Do you have any advice for someone thinking of enrolling on an apprenticeship?

My advice to someone thinking of enrolling onto an Apprenticeship would be to go forit - embrace the opportunities it gives you in terms of broadening your network!
