“After considering a career in teaching and realising it wasn't the right fit, I felt uncertain about my future.

I briefly worked as a teaching assistant, but due to limited advancement opportunities, I transitioned to a role as a senior sales advisor at River Island.

A friend's suggestion led me to apply for a trainee designer position at Benchmarx, and the rest is history.”

Starting as a Trainee Designer in 2016 in Northampton, Becca has progressed through various roles such as Kitchen Designer, Assistant Branch Manager, Showroom Manager, and Branch Manager, before attaining her current position as Regional Sales Manager in August 2023.

“Coming into the industry I did find it a little daunting to work with measurements and kitchen installation all day when it wasn’t something I had prior technical knowledge of.

I threw myself at the role and never passed on a chance to learn something new and observed more experienced colleagues to pick up all the tricks of the trade.

I didn't know how I would find working in such a male-dominated industry, but I have to say I absolutely love it.

I feel I have grown so much as a person, and become more resilient, more confident, and outgoing!”

Becca's enthusiasm for her role at Benchmarx stems from her genuine love for sales and the joy she finds in being a part of the Benchmarx family.

Being regional in her role allows her to be immersed in diverse experiences, a testament to the varied opportunities that Benchmarx provides.

What does your day-to-day role as a Regional Sales Manager look like?

“My position includes overseeing the TSR field team and providing support for regional sales.

This encompasses a blend of branch visits, on-the-road days with my team, and engaging with customers.

It also involves analysing data to monitor and enhance our performance.”

What do you most enjoy about your role?

“I love interacting with colleagues and our customers. The nature of my role being regional means I get to be around so many different people and places which I love.

I truly believe we are better together, and by working with colleagues from across the business, we can offer our customers an enhanced proposition for all sides of their project - why would they want to go anywhere else?!

I also enjoy seeing all our wins and successes across the region which is so rewarding. I am hugely passionate about sales and I still get as excited about kitchen sales as the day I started.”

All of our colleagues are passionate about making a difference, and do this through owning and living our values. ‘We’re better together’ is one of these values and you’ll find that everyone in the business works together, shares their knowledge and is willing to learn and grow.

What has kept you at Benchmarx for nearly 7 years?

“I feel Benchmarx is a place where individuals are encouraged to be themselves and celebrated for it and I have never felt any pressure to be anything other than who I am.

I also work with great colleagues with whom I have made friendships and met people I will never forget. We can always have a laugh but still get the job done!

Our relationship with customers often feels much like a friendship too, which is a lovely environment to be in, where they will chat about home life and their hobbies.

The progression opportunities within the Group are also brilliant, and I feel my journey is a testament to that. I have also found every line manager I have had to be so supportive and really understand me as a person.”

We want everyone to be at their best and it’s our ambition that everyone within our Group feels confident to be their authentic selves and that they belong. You be you, it makes us, us.

Do you have any advice for people considering a career at Benchmarx?
