After completing her A-Levels in Product Design, Business and Media, she knew she was interested in design and interiors but wasn’t sure how to break into that kind of career.
She spent three years working as a receptionist at a tanning salon, managing the front desk and day-to-day running of the store. Wanting to move into a more career-focused role, she briefly worked at an energy consultancy, where calling customers to sell energy contracts quickly made her realise it wasn’t the right fit.
That experience helped her see that kitchens and bathrooms were the direction she wanted to pursue.
Joining BMX as a personality hire with no industry experience, she brought enthusiasm, strong people skills and a genuine passion for design. Now, nine months in, she’s thriving in the role.
Her previous sales experience has helped build confidence in handling objections and building relationships with customers, but unlike cold calling, customers here are already engaged, making it easier to focus on understanding their needs and designing the right space for them.
She’s particularly passionate about the creative side of the role and loves seeing designs come to life.
Looking ahead, she plans to continue building her career with BMX, staying close to her customers and increasing her sales while remaining open to future management opportunities.
With a supportive team, great work–life balance and multiple career paths across the wider group, she says it’s been incredibly rewarding to see how much she’s grown in just nine months.
