About the Role

Are you an experienced credit management professional and inspiring leader looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a Credit Manager dedicated to the Keyline business unit within our overall CCF / Keyline credit team in Glasgow.

Reporting directly to the Head of Credit, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the credit control department. You will lead and empower a team of 8+ credit professionals, drive key financial performance metrics, and foster a high-performing, collaborative working culture in line with Company Credit Policy. As a leader, you will actively champion, add to, and grow our team culture—encouraging participation in social activities, charity cake sales, toy drives, and friendly inter-departmental competitions.

Working Hours & Location

  • Core Hours: Business coverage is 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Standard manager hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility on start/finish times 1–2 days per week.

  • Location: Based on-site as a key holder. Hybrid working (1 day working from home per week) can be discussed over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and coach a team of 8+ colleagues, conducting regular 1:1s, personal growth reviews ("me at my best" plans), and managing recruitment, onboarding, time/absence, and day-to-day workload allocation.

  • Credit Performance & Strategy: Oversee team performance against key KPI metrics including DSO, Dispute Days, Overdues, Prior %, Cash Collection, and Bad Debt Provision reduction. Ensure full alignment with broader business strategies.

  • Process & Change Management: Support the Head of Credit with process integration and business change plans, working cross-functionally across the business to deliver successful implementation.

  • Underwriting & Risk Management: Evaluate credit limits up to £500K, maintain a risk register for limits exceeding £100K (uninsured or partially insured), and guide team members in developing their underwriting skills.

  • Credit Insurance Policy Management: Oversee credit insurance applications, discretionary limit compliance, adverse event reporting, and monthly MEP limit reviews to ensure claims are paid in the event of insolvency.

  • Stakeholder Escalation & Relations: Act as a key internal and external escalation point for credit issues, attend regional meetings, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure customer account matters are resolved swiftly and effectively. Work with stakeholders on invoice dispute resolution to reduce disputes and support root cause analysis.

  • Deputising & Governance: Deputise for the Head of Credit as needed, ensure compliance with Health & Safety checks and reporting, and maintain robust departmental collection and debt reporting.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Proven experience leading a credit control or customer services team. Industry experience is highly desirable.

  • Leadership & Coaching: Strong interpersonal and team management skills with a proven track record of creating a positive environment, mentoring, and developing talent.

  • Analytical & Technical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to create and process financial spreadsheets, alongside a sharp ability to spot patterns, trends, or missing information.

  • Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of credit processes, underwriting principles, and risk management strategies.

  • Resilience & Adaptability: Strong personal resilience and adaptability to effectively manage the demands and fast-paced nature of the role.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and performance-aligned benefits.

  • Opportunity to lead a dynamic team within an industry-leading business unit.

  • Comprehensive learning, development, and career progression opportunities.
