At Travis Perkins Managed Services, we're more than a supplier to the social housing sector. We're a trusted partner to housing providers, local authorities and Tier 1 repair and maintenance contractors, and we help keep thousands of homes safe, warm and well maintained. Behind that are national contracts, a network of branches across the country and a team who care about getting it right for the people living in those homes.

We're now looking for a Head of Account Management to lead our Social Housing Account Management team and take our client partnerships to the next level.

The role

Reporting to the Housing Director, you'll lead, coach and develop a field-based team of 12 to 15 Senior Account Managers and Account Managers. You'll own the account management strategy across our established social housing contracts, driving retention, margin and organic growth across a portfolio worth more than £200m.

This is a senior leadership role with real influence. You'll be the person who turns strong client relationships into long-term partnerships and makes sure what we promise at contract level is delivered on the ground.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and coaching your team to build deep, strategic relationships with housing providers, and making sure operational delivery matches our contract commitments

  • Driving organic growth and margin by bringing in structured account planning and spotting up-sell and cross-sell opportunities, including Value Added Services, RetroFit and Decarbonisation

  • Owning customer retention, with strong quarterly business review (QBR) governance and close tracking of account health to prevent churn

  • Working closely with Business Development, Delivery, Technical Sales and Value Added Services so clients see one joined-up service

  • Acting as the senior escalation point for critical account issues, using root cause analysis to fix problems and improve how we deliver over the long term

  • Aligning account plans with regional and branch leadership so national contracts are delivered well at local level

  • Building a high-performing, customer-centric team through clear sales management tools, CRM discipline and ongoing development

What we're looking for

  • A proven leader of field-based account management or B2B sales teams, with a track record of coaching people to perform at their best

  • Experience managing large, complex key accounts in building materials, merchanting or social housing

  • A strong record in structured account planning, up-selling and client retention

  • Commercial understanding of social housing repair and maintenance contracts and supply models

  • Good knowledge of building materials, plus awareness of housing decarbonisation and RetroFit trends

  • Strong commercial and financial skills, including margin management and P&L awareness

  • Confident negotiating and communicating with senior stakeholders

  • A customer-first, collaborative and resilient leader who acts with integrity

It would be great if you also have

  • Existing relationships with Social Housing Providers, Local Authorities or Tier 1 R&M contractors

  • Experience in a matrix organisation working alongside a branch network

  • Knowledge of public sector procurement frameworks

  • Experience implementing a CRM and running pipeline management based on data

  • Confidence in public speaking and representing the business on panels

  • A degree or professional qualification in sales management or the built environment

What's in it for you

As you would expect, this role is attached to a competitive annual salary and bonus scheme. In addition to this, you’ll receive a company car allowance, private medical cover and a lucrative pension scheme which enhances with length of service.

You will have the chance to lead a team at the heart of one of the UK's most important sectors as well as genuine career progression within Travis Perkins Group, one of the UK's largest suppliers of building materials
