Are you a motivated Assistant Buyer looking for a new challenge? Do you enjoy negotiating with suppliers to get the best deal possible? We have an opportunity for you to join us in a newly created role working closely with the Head of Buying for Benchmarx.

Based in Northampton, you will be joining a dedicated and friendly team to assist in the delivery of COGs improvements programmes, support in driving efficiencies to enhance margin, as well as developing a strong knowledge of the industry and supply base. Using your previous buying experience, you will be given the opportunity to take ownership of supplier relationships and work with a mixture of both branded and non-branded products. As this is a new role you will have the freedom to really make it your own, growing and developing your skills along the way, and could be a great next step if you are an aspiring buyer.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Assist in the delivery of the Benchmarx Buying Strategy for kitchen and joinery products that:
  • Analyses the supply base in order to identify risks 
  • Adopts appropriate negotiation strategies to attain the best terms for the category and the Benchmarx business
  • Assists in the negotiation and delivery of Cogs reductions
  • Builds a strong knowledge of the categories and competitors
  • In conjunction with the Product team, plan and build a commercially acceptable customer driven range in selected categories whilst achieving margin targets as set by the Head of Commercial Services
  • Develop constructive, effective and supportive relationships within the business: Commercial Services, Product, Technical & Marketing teams and with counterparts in wickes and TP
  • Act as a point of escalation for suppliers, and the Benchmarx Supply Chain team, to support challenges on product supply
  • Alongside the Head of Technical, assist in ensuring that the Benchmarx brand standards for both quality and value are maintained, and that the range is benchmarked against competitors in terms of specification, quality and pricing
