What You’ll Be Doing
As the dynamic Branch Manager for our high turnover, flagship Derby branch, you will be the driving force behind a large and successful operation. This is a busy branch with 19 talented colleagues depending on your leadership.
You will manage the entire site, which includes a Toolhire implant and a Benchmarx kitchen showroom implant, ensuring both operations are integrated and profitable. With a substantial fleet of five vehicles including three HGVs, a dedicated Toolhire van, and a Benchmarx van, the logistics of this role are paramount.
This is a fast paced, highly rewarding role where you will be the ultimate people person manager leading, coaching, and inspiring your team to smash sales targets and drive significant profits. You'll drive our success by boosting profit, managing the financial performance (which is substantial!), and ensuring the team delivers top notch service with safety at the heart of everything!

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Leading a High Performing Team: Inspire, coach, and develop the 19 strong branch team to achieve ambitious targets and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Customer First Approach: Build strong, lasting relationships with customers and suppliers, maximising the high turnover potential of the Derby area.
- Operational Excellence: Expertly manage a large operation, including the complex logistics of the five vehicle fleet (including HGVs) and stock for the main branch, Toolhire, and Benchmarx.
- Driving Sales & Profit: Lead sales strategies that boost revenue and effectively manage the substantial financial performance of this high volume branch.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain top health and safety standards and ensure a safe, efficient working environment across all departments.
Who You Are
- You are, first and foremost, a strong people manager who thrives on leading, mentoring, and developing a large team. Experience in a builders' or similar merchanting background is ideal but not essential we are looking for proven leadership in a fast paced commercial environment.
- An Inspiring Leader: You know how to motivate, delegate, and develop a large team, fostering a culture of ownership and success.
- A Relationship Builder: You build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and implant managers (Benchmarx/Toolhire).
- Commercially Driven: You possess strong financial literacy, treat the branch like your own business, and make decisions that drive the branch's high turnover.
- Organized & Efficient: You can plan, prioritize, and manage the complexity of a busy branch, including large fleet logistics and implant operations.
- Safety & Compliance Focused: You ensure the branch meets all legal requirements and maintains top operational standards.
