Travis Perkins South East - HSE Improvement Specialist - December 2023
Location: Remote working, regular visits to branches across London and South East
We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Health and Safety professional to help our leaders across our Southeast operation deliver our H&S Improvement Plans.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of Safety & Behavioural Change Programmes. You’ll champion HSE Excellence, support HSE compliance, adoption of best practices and drive continuous improvement across one of the largest Builders Merchants in the UK
What you’ll do
You will be hands-on in addressing H&S Issues from our key risk areas with innovative solutions. Eventually leading on scoping, researching, developing and delivering your own HSE Improvement Programmes across the business.
You will use robust programme management techniques to ensure activities are delivered timely and in line with the agreed expectations of the Business Leadership Teams.
Influence and motivate our colleagues to embrace safety from frontline colleagues to Board Level
Alongside the HSE Director for Travis Perkins, you will also provide expert guidance on best practices and act as the Leadership Team's HSE conscience by helping them understand the performance and trends in their business.
Is this you?
If you're a forward-thinking individual who can implement change and you possess a friendly, yet tenacious and determined personality - we want to hear from you.
Previous experience leading safety across large organisations with multiple sites with a warehousing / logistical environment would be advantageous, but not essential. It doesn't matter what sector you come from if you can demonstrate how your experience and skills would be transferable to our industry.
Given the risk levels of our businesses, we are particularly keen to hear from HSE professionals who hold a minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate and at least 2 years plus post-qualification experience in a medium to high-risk business.
You will have an in-depth understanding of UK H & S legislation and a pragmatic approach to applying risk reduction methods.
You possess excellent communication and influencing skills, which will make you comfortable with communicating across all levels of our business and quickly enable you to influence and gain buy-in for safety and change.
If the sound of leading and changing the game on safety in this role excites you, we want to hear from you!
What’s in it for you?
Not Sure you Qualify? We’re driving to become a truly inclusive employer, where everyone in our Group feels safe, welcome and confident to be their authentic selves - you be you, it makes us, us, as we say. If you’re interested in this opportunity but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be just the right candidate for this or other roles with us.
You’ll be supported by some fantastic training and development and have the opportunity to learn, grow and develop across the Travis Perkins Group.
We’ll also equip you with a benefits package that grows as you grow with the company:
Competitive bonus
Save-as-you-earn scheme
Buy-as-you-earn scheme
Contributory pension scheme
Colleague discount across a variety of Group businesses
