Lead HSE Advisor (Branch Support)


This role requires a Full UK driving licence with regular travel to branches in the South East


What will you do? 


This role provides supervisory and coordination support of the front line HSE branch support team. 

Alongside providing advice and expert guidance to Branch Managers and Regional Directors, completes Group and statutory Health and Safety reporting requirements, LTI investigation and case management and delivers the 2nd line of defence HSE audit programme.


Some accountabilities of the role: 


  • Support RDs in the accurate and timely investigation of LTIs and other serious incidents and near misses

  • Deliver effective LTI case management support so that injured colleagues can return to a normal way of life as soon as possible ensuring they have access to all available support from the business

  • Provide effective and efficient resolution of branch HSE queries and support with risk assessments as necessary 

  • Complete any branch visit based activity agreed with the relevant Head of HSE / HSE Director e.g. traffic management reviews deliver HSE related training in line with the business HSE plan or as a result of a specific training need identified.

  • Support the relevant BU leader in distributing Serious Incident Notifications as per our Serious Incident Escalation Process.  

  • Undertake HSE Branch Reviews (2nd line of Defence Audits) in line with business risk profile.

  • Support Branch Managers in resolving HSE related queries and problems for your region and support the front line HSE Advisor team with any complex HSE queries.

  • Manage the Lost Time Incident verification and investigation process supporting line managers ensuring that the Just Culture principles are correctly applied.

  • Working with HR, support line managers with the Return to Work process for colleagues off as a result of a lost time incident, ensuring robust plans are in place to help them return to a normal way of life as quickly as possible. 

  • Complete all RIDDOR reporting requirements for your region.

You will have an in-depth understanding of UK H & S legislation and a pragmatic approach to applying risk reduction method.


Given the risk levels of our businesses, we are particularly keen to hear from HSE professionals who hold a minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate and at least 18 months post-qualification experience in a medium to high-risk business.

 

You possess excellent communication and influencing skills, which will make you comfortable with communicating across all levels of our business and quickly enable you to influence and gain buy-in for safety and change.
