Improvement Specialist (Policy, Risk and Assurance)


Location: Remote working, with travel to Group locations (including Europe)


We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Health and Safety professional to support our Groups in health and safety policies, risk and assurance. In this role, you will be able to influence health and safety at a Group level and support in driving continuous improvement.  You’ll champion HSE Excellence and Expertise, develop HSE policy, provide assurance and drive continuous improvement across the Group as a whole.


What you’ll do


You will be hands-on in developing safety policies for the Group, ensuring they are robust and practical for the Group. 


The role will involve engaging in the delivery of safety assurance reviews for the Group which will cover an array of health and safety aspects.


You will maintain the Groups Safety Management System, this will involve a technical and practical appraisal of the content and feedback to stakeholders.


Alongside the HSE Manager, you will provide expert guidance on health and safety risk, and assurance supporting the Group to have robust safety process in place

If you have an eye for detail and are a critical thinker who can influence change, and you have a friendly, yet tenacious and determined personality - we want to hear from you.


Previous experience leading safety across large organisations with multiple sites with a warehousing / logistical environment would be advantageous, but not essential. It doesn't matter what sector you come from if you can demonstrate how your experience and skills would be transferable to our industry. 


Given the risk levels of our businesses, we are particularly keen to hear from HSE professionals who hold a minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate and at least 2 years plus post-qualification experience in a medium to high-risk business. 


You will have an in-depth understanding of UK H & S legislation and a pragmatic approach to applying risk reduction methods. 


You possess excellent communication and influencing skills, which will make you comfortable with communicating across all levels of our business and quickly enable you to influence and gain buy-in for safety and change.
