What will you do?
Do you have the passion and desire to work in an in-house legal department? We are currently seeking a Paralegal to join the busy Corporate Recoveries Department.
You will be joining a highly motivated team, where you will seek to recover debts arising from credit accounts and personal guarantees. With your excellent communication and organisational skills, you will pursue the recovery of debts arising as a result of non payment of credit accounts.
As a case handler you will deal with pre-action accounts, negotiate settlement wherever possible, deal with civil proceedings and insolvency, and use other various enforcement measures to recover debts.
You will be expected to network and build relations with central and divisional functions and as part of this, you will be providing commercial and pragmatic legal advice to support and mitigate the risks to our trade-focused businesses and central functions.
What are we looking for?
You’ll either have a Credit/legal office background or hold a Law Degree or equivalent qualification and will be able to put your legal knowledge into practise on a daily basis. With your excellent communication skills, you will build relationships within the business and with our customers, ensuring you tailor the technical legal advice/support to the relevant audience.
Your legal knowledge and ability to follow processes will be vital to our success. This is a fast paced but welcoming environment, and you should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and decision making skills.
Some accountabilities of the role:
Pursue recovery of debts by letter and telephone and obtain payment by cheque/card payment/ bacs/chaps either in full, by agreeing payment plans or negotiating full and final settlements.
Issue statutory demands, County Court Claims and use the other various enforcement measures to recover those debts which do not pay as a result of the above and again negotiating settlement wherever possible.
Pursue recovery of monies using the above by enforcing the Personal Guarantees given to TP Group on Limited Company credit accounts and present the Company’s position from a legal perspective when issues are raised.
Deal with daily correspondence from Debtors, Legal Advisors to debtors, Debt Management Agencies, Courts, Process servers, Tracing Agents.
Liaise with Credit Control, Branches, Sales Teams and Regional Directors to obtain information to resolve pre-action queries and pre-action disputes.
Building Debtor profiles through the use of Companies House Records, credit searches and Land Registry Checks to make decisions on the merits of pursuing recovery
Processing failure, write off and fraud accounts in accordance with Company policy.
