Cloud Platforms Product Owner

Travis Perkins plc is now hiring for a skilled and collaborative Cloud Platforms Product Owner to join our Service & Platforms team within Group Technology & Data.

This is a pivotal technical leadership role responsible for the delivery, reliability and security of foundational cloud platform services across the Group. Managing a dedicated engineering team (5–7 direct reports) and an annual budget of c. £0.5m–£2m, you will drive operational efficiency, champion resilience  and lead the evolution of our cloud ecosystem to support business-critical applications.

Working Pattern & Location

• Hybrid Working: This role follows a hybrid working model that requires 2–3 days per week on-site at our Head Office in Duston, Northampton.

• Working Pattern: Full-time Monday - Friday on a 12 months Fixed Term Contract

• Travel: A full driving licence is required for occasional site or hub visits.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Group Cloud Platforms Product Manager, you will take ownership of specific cloud platform services, ensuring they are scalable, cost-effective and robustly secured.

You will lead a high-performing engineering team, driving service roadmaps, managing vendor contracts and embedding best practices across security, risk, and disaster recovery. 
Balancing operational stability with continuous innovation, you will ensure our foundational cloud capabilities consistently meet business SLAs and recovery targets (RTO/RPO).

What You'll Be Doing

• Cloud Platform Delivery & Operations: Overseeing the provisioning, performance, scalability and security of cloud platform services to ensure operational excellence.

• Team Leadership & Development: Managing, coaching and developing 5–7 cloud engineering colleagues, setting clear performance standards and nurturing talent using TP people manager toolkits.

• Resilience & Recoverability: Designing and regularly testing recoverability plans to guarantee technical resilience and meet RTO/RPO objectives during incident responses.

• Financial & Vendor Management: Managing a budget of c. £0.5m–£2m, optimising cloud spend (FinOps), managing 3rd-party vendor contracts and identifying cost saving opportunities.

• Roadmap Planning & Governance: Developing medium to long term platform roadmaps, managing risk registers and ensuring strict adherence to information security policies.

• Stakeholder & Project Management: Collaborating across Group Technology teams to execute cloud projects, retire legacy services and deliver continuous service improvements.

About You

Essential

• Proven experience in a cloud platform, cloud product or engineering leadership role.

• Proven capability in team management and developing technical colleagues.

• Core knowledge of Cloud Computing principles, Information Security and ITIL frameworks.

• Experience prioritising complex workloads, managing operational risks and delivering projects to deadlines.

• Commercial awareness with experience or exposure to budget management and vendor relations.

• Requires a Full UK driving licence

We'd Particularly Like to See

• ITIL, Prince2 (or equivalent project management) or Agile/Waterfall delivery credentials.

• Familiarity with Cloud FinOps, DevSecOps and modern infrastructure paradigms.

• Experience tracking performance metrics and producing executive level reports.
