Head of Commercial - Hire
We’re looking for an experienced commercial leader who knows how to shape and execute winning product strategies, lead high-performing teams and unlock sustainable profit growth. As Head of Commercial, you’ll play a key role in defining how we take products to market, how we influence customer demand and how we drive trading performance across Travis Perkins Hire.

What you’ll be doing
As Head of Commercial for Travis Perkins Hire, you’ll build and deliver strategies that ensure we have the right products, in the right places, at the right time, all at the right commercial return. Your work will directly influence cost of goods sold (COGS), trading profit, customer proposition and supplier relationships. This role sits on the Travis Perkins Hire Senior Leadership Team so you’ll therefore have an opportunity to shape, define and deliver our strategic goals.
In this role you will:
Lead and engage a category team, ensuring they have the skills, systems and support needed to perform at their best
Understand target customer needs and market trends, converting insights into actionable category strategy
Approve and execute strategies with clear communication and corrective action plans to drive performance
Own the trading plan including forecasting, COGS, trading accounts, market share and budgeting activity
Shape pricing strategies that help us win more profitable business
Build strong supplier relationships to secure competitive advantage, exclusive deals and improved commercial terms
Lead ranging and supplier decisions to meet customer needs and expected returns
Work with Supply Chain to optimise stock, service availability and route to market
Maximise channels and promotional activity to create demand and deliver commercial returns
What we’re looking for
Proven success in category or commercial leadership within merchanting or retail
Experience leading category teams through change and growth
Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation capability
Track record of delivering commercial results against category KPIs (e.g. margin, rebates, market share)
