Senior Software Engineer
What you'll do
Working within an Agile development team, the Senior Software Engineer is a crucial member of the software engineer team. Responsible for using technology to solve problems in an engineering design process. You may create or have responsibility to improve or invent software tools or applications across a wide and varying range of technologies and software languages.
This is a remotely based role. When it comes to IT, Toolstation is unique. All software that runs the company is developed and maintained in-house. Using open-source technologies, everything from our consumer website, our shop tills, to our warehouse stock control has been created from the ground up.
Team Lead. A huge part of this role will be focused on collaborating with the development teams to design, implement, and maintain software applications across the business. You will be a competent engineer looking to take your career to the next step and manage your own team.
Contact. The main point of contact for any team related queries, you will also work with senior members of the business to scope requirements and then distribute work accordingly throughout your team.
Control. A real go getter with a great eye for detail, taking control of your own tasks and workload.
What you'll bring
Leader. You will be a competent leader and be comfortable speaking with senior stakeholders.
Communication. You will also play a critical role in facilitating and encouraging thinking and discussion in ceremonies and to finding constructive solutions to software challenges.
Mentoring. You will Mentor and provide guidance to junior software engineers, helping them develop their technical skills and grow in their roles.
Lead by example. We’re looking for someone to lead by example and to continue to maintain and contribute towards clear and comprehensive documentation for configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
On-call. A crucial part of this role will involve being part of the on-call rota helping to respond to outages and issues outside normal business hours.
