As a Hire Service Engineer in Travis Perkins, you will play a vital role in supporting our business to meet and be compliant to all mechanical, electrical processes and procedures in regards to repairing and testing tools and equipment to the Travis Perkins Tool Hire standard.


You will be responsible for preparation, testing, servicing and repairing of all equipment that requires specialist knowledge in the most efficient and safe way, reducing downtime and driving utilisation forward through increased availability of assets. 


What will I be doing?

  • In this multi-skilled role you will be tasked with ensuring all tools and equipment are tested and safe for use and readily available for hire

  • Maintenance and repair of a range of specialist assets across a portfolio of brands in the most efficient, economical and high-quality manner

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot repairs, providing timely and effective solutions with completion on of all work in compliance with manufacturer and Hire Association Europe guidelines

  • Identifying product repairs that fall under manufacturer warranty, ensure that these are recorded and then referred to the Workshop Supervisor or Repair Manager to liaise with the relevant manufacturer

  • Undertake initial product training, followed up by annual refresher sessions, specialist manufacturer training and ensure they are proactive in immersing themselves in understanding new methods and technologies to improve quality and speed of repair, which will drive utilisation and tools on hire figures by increased availability of tools. 

  • With your learned knowledge of the products and services we offer, you will be a pivotal contact for our network of branches, nurturing great relationships, understanding their needs in order to offer expert advice and recommend alternatives to profitably maximise sales of hire tools and equipment

  • Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, so you will need to adhere and be compliant to all Tool Hire processes and procedures including all Tool Hire audits and inspections


What experience do you need?

Previous experience within the Plant and Hire Industry or a good understanding of electrical, petrol and diesel equipment would be advantageous, but not essential. It doesn't matter what sector you come from, we just need transferable skills.
