We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Business Partner to join our Head Office Support Centre team based in The Midlands, and if this sounds like an opportunity for you read on below to find out more...

Main purpose of role:
  • Support Operational Managers in resolving HS&E related queries and problems.
  • Maintain oversight of safety management arrangements at each Supply Chain.
  • Undertake HS&E Branch Reviews (2nd line of Defence Audits).
  • Deliver HS&E related training in line with the business HS&E plan or as a result of a specific training need identified.
  • Manage the Lost Time Incident verification and investigation process supporting line managers ensuring that the Just Culture principles are correctly applied.
  • Working with HR, support line managers with the Return to Work process for colleagues off as a result of a lost time incident, ensuring robust plans are in place to help them return to a normal way of life as quickly as possible.
  • Complete all RIDDOR reporting requirements for your region.
  • Review the various HS&E Data streams for each Distribution Centre and the Wickes Supply Chain and store network eg near misses, self assessment returns to determine quality insights that you can use to help support Distribution Centre Managers and the Supply Chain Leadership Team reduce risk; supporting Operations Managers to resolve potentially significant / sense near misses.
  • Support Distribution Centre Managers at their Operations Meetings to ensure HS&E messaging is consistent and resolve any local issues raised.
  • Support the Distribution Centre Managers run the Regional Safety, Transport and Well Being forums.
  • Implement nationally agreed HS&E improvement programmes and support the development of them accordingly using your local knowledge to make sure they land effectively.
  • Work with the Head of Head of Safety to identify and share HS&E best practice across the Wickes businesses Supply Chain and Store network.

What are we looking for:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Essential)
  • GradIOSH status (Essential)
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (Desirable)
  • GradOSH / CMIOSH (Desirable)
  • Environmental qualification (Desirable)
  • Membership to IEMA (Desirable)
  • 18 months post qualification experience in medium risk business (Essential)
  • Experience of safety culture and behavioural change programmes (Essential)
  • Practical environmental management experience: risk management and front line support
  • Excellent communicator
  • Able to train and effectively represent at both Regional Director  and Front Line levels
  • Pragmatic in approach and solutions generated
  • Full legal and technical understanding of H&S 
  • Strong influencer
