Apprentice Tool Hire Assistant

We are BSS, a nationwide distributor of heating, ventilation, pipeline, and mechanical services, we are also part of the well known Travis Perkins Group and this opportunity is based in Plymouth.

Our working hours also offer a great work life balance - most of our customers choose to enjoy their weekends and bank holidays which means you can too!  The working hours will be Monday- Friday 7.30am - 5.00pm

How important is this role to the business

As the Tool Hire Assistant Apprentice in BSS, you will play a vital role in supporting our Tool Hire Manager to meet and be compliant to all mechanical, electrical processes and procedures in regards to repairing and testing tools and equipment to the BSS Tool Hire standard. 

What will I be doing?

• In this multi-skilled role you will be tasked with ensuring all tools and hire equipment are tested and safe for use and readily available for hire.

• You will support your Tool Hire Manager in managing all aspects of their department and business.

• Delivering and collecting a wide variety of tools & equipment to our customers.

• With your learned knowledge of the products and services we offer, you will be a pivotal contact for our customers, nurturing great relationships, understanding their needs in order to offer expert advice and recommending alternatives to profitably maximise the sale of goods.

• Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, so you will need to adhere and be compliant to all Tool Hire processes and procedures including all Tool Hire audits and inspections.

• Through 1:1 coaching, mentoring, digital study and technical and skills training, you’ve got a fantastic support network that will support you, not only through the apprenticeship programme, but your day to day development to enable you to progress to a management position.

What are we looking for?

You don’t need any previous experience to be considered for our Tool Hire Apprenticeship, but for the best chance of securing yourself a place you’ll need to be someone who:

• Knows what great customer service looks like – and how to provide it

• Is able to build relationships with people at all levels and enjoys working within a sales environment

• Loves to learn, develop and expand their knowledge and self develop themselves

• Is willing to travel, and be flexible in terms of location

• Holds a full UK driving licence (or be taking your test soon)
