Travis Perkins plc is one of the largest Builders Merchants and Home Improvement companies in the UK, with over £6.2bn annual turnover. Due to career progression within our team, we have an exciting opportunity for an ‘Assistant accountant’ to join our Fixed Asset Team, part of the Finance Shared Central Services Department, based in Northampton.

What you’ll do 

Reporting to the Fixed asset supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining the Fixed asset registers for the group, maintaining ownership & control over the capital approval process with reconciling the c.£1bn fixed assets across the group providing challenge and insight to the business level finance teams. 

Part of a close knit team you will assist in achieving key departmental deadlines.You will act as a business partner to key stakeholders across the group, work on accounting projects and ensure the required accounting processes are performed only on a monthly basis. You will ensure high quality balance sheet reviews and reporting is performed on a monthly basis, along with being a key contact for the external auditors.

Is this you? 

A continuous improvement mindset is essential, you will take the lead to resolve issues as they arise and you will also undertake investigations/queries raised by the wider business on the monthly accounts. Depending on issues that arise, small projects may need to be undertaken and you will be proactive and driven to complete these.

Joining a dedicated team of four you will utilise your strong excel skills and accountancy knowledge. You will be a part qualified accountant, with a drive for continuous improvement, great communication skills and a desire to develop relationships across the wider group.
