Are you looking for the opportunity to Lead? Are you a Lead Data Engineer who is looking for a challenging opportunity, working within one of the largest in-house technology teams across the UK. If so this might be for you!  

The Lead Data Engineer’s role will present the opportunity and autonomy to create new processes that will improve validation and prioritisation of the backlog of data engineering work to be performed as well as deliver against our ambitious roadmap.

This role is integral to ensuring we deliver the best possible customer value for our external customers! 

What you’ll do

On a day to day basis, we believe the tasks that will be carried out will be as follows, however, we are aware there may be much more you might want to make your own! 

In line with the group strategy, manage and execute a proactive data engineering plan and process.
Provide data engineering service across the group. (Tool Station, TP, BSS, Keyline, CCF).
Accountable for defining objectives for and measuring benefits (OKRs) for your prioritised initiatives to ensure we deliver superior and consistent data experiences for our customers.

You will own the data engineering road map to ensure we deliver a comprehensive data library made up of internal and external data to ensure we deliver the greatest possible value to our customers and the business.

- Responsible for delivering a robust data engineering and ingestion framework.
- Responsible for setting up and executing the correct level of data governance on the data platform.
- Management of a team of a data engineering team/steward
- Ability to be hands on when required with the right skills
- Responsible for a significant budget.

Are you comfortable managing a range of Data Engineers and BI Architects? Have you previously inspired product development teams by setting ambitious goals and plans?
