Business Intelligence - Senior Software Engineer


Here at Travis Perkins we are currently seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to work as part of an End To End Business Intelligence Service team producing, maintaining, running and supporting high quality working software and solutions that meets the service consumers needs.


The role we're recruiting for


As a Travis Perkins Senior Software Engineer within Group Business Intelligence you will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining and supporting the End To End Service. This will include full lifecycle management of platforms and applications - ensuring that delivery and service commitments are met.  Following (input were required) to the design practices, standards and approaches to create solutions aligned to agreed design patterns & principles defined by Enterprise Architecture.


The Senior Engineer provides technical expertise for the design, test, implementation and automation of our End to End BI Service, documenting standard internal processes for solutions and to transfer these into business as usual delivery. Designing for supportability and security.


You will also need to manage the BI Engineering team, providing guidance and coaching where required while also escalating issues where appropriate. The role holder will also need to assist in the implementation of projects and planned activities assigned to ensure adherence to the Travis Perkins group change procedures. To lead / assist in the deployment of new infrastructure acting as primary interface for assigned portfolio of projects.


It would be great if you had...

  • Previous experience in a support/delivery role
  • Experience implementing enterprise reporting systems and Data warehouse
  • Microsoft SQL skills specifically the development and support of SSIS packages.
  • Business Objects v4.1 or higher - Universe design or Information Design tool
  • Experience utilising BI dashboard technologies such as Tableau or Qlik.
  • Experience with advanced analytics tools such as SAS and SPSS.
  • Specific experience designing and developing using the following technologies: Qlik (View, nPrint & Sense), Talend,  Microsoft SSIS, Infor BI capabilities, Matillion, Google BigQuery, Google Data Studio
