Job Description

Do you have strong commercial acumen and exposure to leading and managing Category Teams? Plumbing & Heating (P&H) Division is looking for a Category Manager to lead the Category Team in defining and managing the commercial category proposition within the nominated categories through the ownership of the  supplier relationships, commercial terms, ranging, and pricing decisions for those categories. 


Your role will involve managing the Plumbing and Heating merchandise proposition. You will be defining pricing strategies and product promotions. For this you will need experience with understanding consumer needs and building strong relationships with suppliers. 


Responsibilities:

Product Strategy

  • Delivering maximum sales and profit by building a clear strategic plan. 

  • Develop and build category plan, to deliver market share growth, informed by internal and external insight to maximise commercial position and provide the best customer proposition.

  • Managing SKU level cost and retail price in line with pricing and promotional strategy.


Supply & Souring 

  • Building strong partnerships with suppliers to maximise business opportunity.

  • Roll out a clear sourcing strategy to ensure the supply of quality products that meet the customer need through the most efficient route to market.

  • Ownership of all category external supplier relationships including all commercial terms with the suppliers ensuring all opportunities are maximised.

  • Manage all internal department relationships for the nominated categories including sales, operations, supply, finance, marketing, and digital to ensure all departments understand and are aligned with the category proposition and development


Leadership & Development

  • Develop direct reports to ensure full engagement and individual growth of teams, ensuring they are aligned, motivated, and support our company values.

  • Clearly communicating Category plans to the wider network of teams within the department. 

  • Working with the Commercial Director  define a clear range and pricing hierarchy  aimed at a clear customer target market.


Requirements:

  • Experienced in category management or buying

  • Developing & executing a category strategy

  • Motivated to achieve targets/deadlines.

  • Excellent attention-to-detail, planning and organisation skills.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (verbal and written) at all levels.

  • Experience of leading team
