Job Description

Are you looking to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment where you are able to make a real difference? Are you a proven Commercial Manager with experience of managing large scale IT contracts? We at Travis Perkins are looking for a Commercial Manager to join our team based in Northampton.

As our Commercial Manager, you will own and monitor the contractual expectations of key 3rd party suppliers forming part of our overall portfolio for our IT department. This opportunity provides great insight into all the businesses across the Travis Perkins group, and you will play an important role in supporting the commercial performance through delivery of a cost reduction programme. This includes analysis of category spend & performance, market dynamics and supplier performance. Ultimately, you’ll be making a real difference in finding profit opportunities!

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Owning, directing and enhancing relationships with strategic vendors aligned to resource.
  • Understand the full supplier portfolio within the allotted category and identify strategic approaches to consolidate/rationalise, improve process, costs, terms and conditions. 
  • Develop and maintain  relationships in conjunction with internal customers and vendors to maintain end to end visibility of all vendor engagements with the business.  
  • Work across functions to gather and monitor overall supplier performance information  to ensure delivery to time, cost and SLA taking corrective actions when and where required  Flag up potential issues in a timely manner identifying risks and enable mitigation strategies. 
  • Manage and track contractual obligations via an Obligations Register.  Flag any potential issues in a timely manner, and identify risks and enable mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and review commercial terms ensuring value for money, instigating contract schedule changes as required and as appropriate . 
  • Deliver regular strategic reviews per vendor to Exec Sponsor and other key stakeholders using recognised vendor “toolkit” making suggestions for enhancements and/or areas for potential improvement and possible renegotiation.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating cost elements within GTS by working with Finance, Service/cost centre owners
  • Responsible for assisting  Service and Project teams in identification, forecasting and scenario prediction of change impacts on GTS.
  • Carry out, in tandem with finance invoice validation, risk management and budget forecasting for services/contracts associated with the respective vendor

What do I need to have?
Ideally 5 years experience within commercial management with the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders and vendors. A good knowledge of market trends in contract and pricing models, service delivery and performance management. Finally, we need you to be confident in using MS Excel or equivalent and Google suite.
