Job Description

Are you a self motivated team player with the ability to multitask whilst meeting tight deadlines? Here at Travis Perkins we’re urgently looking for an Desktop Application Analyst to join us permanently here in Northampton. You’ll also play an instrumental role in our upcoming Windows 10 project!

What you'll do…

As our Desktop Application Analyst , you’ll be responsible for making a positive difference and contributing to the development of the Service Control, responsible for the quality and version control of all Client Desktop applications in line with customer requirements. Responsible for ensuring processes and standards are followed and throughput of work is maintained.

- Undertaking of all Desktop Application related deployments and associated management activities and processes. 
- Maintaining Software repositories that are linked and maintained through DSL and MAL.
- Supporting projects with SW related information and reports. 
- Ensuring testing, UAT and OS compliance are completed prior to release 
- Supporting the overall release management process in conjunction with Change Management.
- Highlighting risks and issues with any relevant Change Management and or release agenda.
- Assisting with software licence entitlement identification process 
- Any non compliance is reported / escalated and that the state remains within compliance.
- Managing the security of all applications and mitigating any vulnerabilities within versions.
- Ensure that standard operating procedures relating to BAU Software Asset Management are completed and distributed to appropriate direct stakeholders. 
- Collating and retaining any Proof of Entitlement or licencing documentation and providing to Asset  Management for appropriate retention and processing.
- Managing and maintaining document management for all application deployment, management and version control by maintaining a Master Application List in conjunction with a Definitive Software Library.
- Seeks to confirm that the use of Software assets within the group are appropriately managed throughout their lifecycle ensuring that there are no compatibility or vulnerability issues between clients and related services by ensuring appropriate testing has been conducted and recorded for each new release.
- Work with third party SAM service and tool providers to ensure any agreed services are being delivered that support the overall SAM service.
- Supporting the estate SW management by managing and evolving a release management process that supports the business to n-1 against all of its SW assets.
- Providing technical documentation on a range of technical issues as required
- Working with clients to facilitate UAT testing to support ongoing OS updates, ensuring sign off and all outstanding issues are documented / reported
- Working with clients to capture and document software application configuration requirements and details to maintain knowledge database / Master Application List / CMDB etc.
- Management of application packaging library and workflow tracking system facilitating approval for new requests as well as overseeing release.
- Producing procedural documentation of application packaging processes for the benefit of knowledge sharing and improved efficiency
- Keeping up-to-date with current and future technologies, products and strategies as well as maintaining latest versions.
- Supporting any and all software application activities as requested by the business for all Windows based clients. 
- Continually striving for and implementing improvements, best practice and promoting efficiencies wherever possible.  
- Taking on and delivering all aspects of the role developing and growing where relevant as the role develops.

Is this you? 

You will have experience of migrating applications from MS Windows 7 to MS Windows 10, SCCM packaging, testing, deployment and general application management. You will be able to demonstrate extensive MSI and App-V format experience and the use of PowerShell, VB Scripting, MSI and InstallShield. It is also important that you have experience of Active Directory, Registry issues and Windows File Protection.
