What you'll do

Hybrid/remote working with at least one day a week in our Bridgwater Head Office or in Pineham, Northampton

Ideally you will live within commutable distance to either location

Toolstation, part of the Travis Perkins Group, is one of the UK’s fastest-growing retailers, focused on becoming a customer-first, true omni-channel leader. We are on a mission to become a £1 billion retailer, and we need an agile, strategic, user obsessed, Product Owner to be the driving force behind the success of our digital offerings.

You'll act as the strategic bridge between business stakeholders, our users, and the technical development team. You will own the product vision from concept to delivery, ensuring the team is always focused on delivering the highest ROI while solving real user problems.

As the Digital Product Owner, you will take ownership of the products successes and failures by fulfilling these core accountabilities:

Backlog Management: Own, maintain, and continuously refine the product backlog. Ruthlessly prioritise features, enhancements, and bugs based on business value, customer needs, and technical dependencies.

Requirements Definition: Translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria for the development team.

Agile Leadership: Actively participate in all agile ceremonies, serving as the primary voice of the customer and the business.

Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary liaison, proactively communicating product updates and managing expectations across all levels of the organisation.

Product Acceptance: Review and approve completed work at the end of each sprint, ensuring quality standards are met before release.

Data-Driven Decisions: Monitor product performance post-launch using analytics and user feedback to iterate on the product and inform future backlog prioritisation.

What you'll bring

Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Digital Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst in a software development environment.

Agile Expertise: Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and practices, with the ability to collaborate closely with engineering and design teams in iterative delivery cycles.

Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills, seamlessly translating technical constraints into business impacts and high-level strategic goals into actionable technical requirements.

Prioritisation: Demonstrated ability to ruthlessly prioritise work based on effort versus impact to maximise product value and confidently deliver the "constructive no" to stakeholders.

Technical Fluency: Sufficient technical understanding to communicate effectively with engineers and understand architectural complexities and limitations.

Mindset: A strong passion for user experience (UX) and a User-Centric Mindset, constantly seeking to uncover root user problems.

Tools: Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.

Preferred but not essential:

Scrum or SAFe certification.
Experience working within a Retail environment.
