Job Description

We are thrilled to be recruiting for a Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst to join our Finance team in Head Office.


Role Purpose:

To become an integral part of the Financial Control and Reporting team, providing support to the wider Finance team and Wickes business to help ensure a smooth, efficient running of the central Finance function, along with appropriate controls


Key Accountabilities:


  • Process and Manage IFRS 16 financial accounting adjustments for leased assets 
  • Prepare, update, distribute and collate Month End / Flash / Budget and Forecast working files, so they are completed in a timely manner. 

  • Prepare and own key balance sheet control accounts, to ensure control and understanding

  • Post key month end journals (Expenses / Intercompany / Insurance) in a timely manner, for inclusion in month end accounts

  • Regularly update interface between accounting ledger and excel management reporting tool (Essbase), so the whole Finance community has the latest updated information

  • Assist with any ad hoc requests, queries or analysis, to help the smooth, efficient working of the Finance function

  • Take ownership of further key tasks and develop skills as experience in the role increases

  • Any additional work required as Wickes continues its journey in preparation to demerge


What are we looking for?


  • Part qualified with a recognised accountancy qualification

  • Sound knowledge and experience of Financial Accounting (ideally IFRS 16)

  • Proven working experience in finance department

  • Experience of preparing balance sheet reconciliations

  • Proficiency in MS Office with good Excel skills

  • High degree of accuracy and detail

  • Experience of using a ledger system

  • An understanding of how the Finance department functions and the role it plays in a large company 

  • Problem solving skills

  • Good attention to detail

  • Team player/happy to help/can do attitude

  • Well organised with the ability to prioritise work.

  • Hard working and proactive

  • Enthusiastic and inquisitive
