Functional Skills Specialist Tutor

We deliver our Apprenticeship programmes virtually, holding training and coaching sessions using video conferencing technology. As such, this will be a home based role and we are flexible on the location of the successful applicant. 

Due to the continued growth of our award winning apprenticeship delivery team, we are now looking to recruit two Functional Skills Specialist Tutors on a part time basis. These newly created roles will play a vital part in supporting our Apprentices to achieve their qualification through the provision of both 1-2-1 and group tutoring sessions for learners with additional support needs. 

Key Accountabilities:

In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that all our Apprentices experience a positive learning environment that’s structured and progressive, and centred around them. Reporting into our Learning Support Specialist, you will take responsibility for;

• Undertaking assessments of identified learners to understand their additional needs, planning and executing appropriate tutoring resources that will allow them to pass their FS exams.

• Supporting the development of teaching resources.

• Establishing and building effective partnerships with the wider Apprenticeship team to ensure learners are receiving the correct levels of support.

• Effectively tracking and monitoring learner progress.

• Actively supporting safeguarding and mental health strategies.

• Supporting ongoing preparation for audit and Ofsted inspections.

• Hold a relevant qualification in teaching or tutoring.

• Have previous experience in a similar role where they have been responsible for teaching, planning and evaluating activities.

• Preferable experience of tutoring for ESOL and SEN learners.

• Have an excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

• Excel at communicating with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.

• Have a positive attitude and enjoy finding solutions to problems.
