Head of Category - Timber

Due to an internal promotion we are in a great position to offer the right candidate the opportunity to ‘Head up’ our commercial Timber proposition. Do you live and breathe Timber? We’re looking for a Senior Category Lead or Head of Category who has a wealth of knowledge in this space who can design and implement a strategic Timber Category Proposition!

We're working to Hybrid model where you may work from home, however there will be a need to get to the office on a weekly basis, so we perceive commutable locations as Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire.

As the Head of Category for Timber, you will be responsible for significant revenue, sales and trading profits. To support you to do this you’ll have a team of 7 direct reports and 4 further indirect reports.

We operate in a fast moving environment and if you know timber, you know that things change quickly so you'll be able to adapt, spot opportunities before they happen and make great decisions.

Our strategy is to be the thought leader to our industry and the built environment, so we’re looking for people who can help us innovate and help us to stay on top of our game and continue to lead from the front! Do you think you can bring a new outlook to the following responsibilities?

Lead and manage a Commercial team to execute key strategic category plans.

Define a compelling customer proposition to drive sales, profit growth and market share.

Have your finger on the pulse with trading performance, identifying areas of concern and opportunities!

Ensure we continue to be best in class and the market leader for product availability.

Review pricing strategies to ensure we’re “on-point” and carry out consistent range reviews to optimise category performance

Manage and negotiate with a range of suppliers to ensure we have mutually beneficial and the very best commercial terms.

Develop a culture of empowerment and development across your team, to ensure we have progressive successive plans for the future.

Location: Our Head Office is based in Northamptonshire, however, we work a flexible, hybrid working model.
