Hire Administrator

Travis Perkins is the UK's largest distributor of building materials, and our Hire business keeps the country's construction sites moving, from major contractors to local tradespeople. Behind every tool that goes out on hire is a team making sure the right kit gets to the right place at the right time. That's where you come in.

We're looking for a Hire Administrator to join our Oldbury team. This is a hands-on role at the heart of our purchasing and logistics operation, where attention to detail and clear communication keep our fleet, our suppliers, and our branches working in sync.

What you'll be doing

You'll be the engine room for purchasing and transport coordination. Day to day, you'll:

• Create and process purchase orders accurately and on time
• Liaise with suppliers on orders, pricing, and delivery schedules
• Match supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes, resolving any discrepancies
• Arrange transport bookings with carriers and logistics providers, and keep internal teams updated on shipment status
• Maintain accurate purchasing and transport records
• Support the team with filing, data entry, and general administrative tasks
• Work closely with warehouse, finance, and operations colleagues to keep things running smoothly
• Make sure all documentation is completed and stored correctly

What we're looking for

We want someone organised, accurate, and confident picking up the phone. Specifically:

• Previous experience in an administrative, purchasing, or logistics role would be ideal
• A good understanding of purchase order and invoice processes
• Strong attention to detail — the small stuff matters here
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• A confident communicator, by phone and email
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
