Job Description

As we strive to be even more proactive and risk-based in our approach (rather than only reactive and transactional) we are re-developing our team structures and roles - this has created new opportunities to place the right people in great roles where they will have great impact. For this reason we are  looking to hire three  qualified lawyers to join the in-house legal team here at Travis Perkins Group.

You’ll be dealing with commercial law generally but your experience may be from any other area of law.  What’s important is your ability to understand and work closely and proactively with the business to help it to make informed decisions and mitigate risk.

If it matters to the business, it matters to us – that’s our mantra.  That’s how we know we’re enablers and not blockers.

To succeed you will work at pace supporting a wide variety of priority activities across our businesses,  forming strong working relationships with key stakeholders along the way.  You will identify and adapt to the right audience in any given scenario.  Day to day, you will resolve complex contract negotiations both creatively and commercially, helping the business to balance risks and varying interests.  You will drive effective dispute resolution through a commercial approach to litigation.

You will contribute to the development of the legal team and its ways of working to meet the evolving needs of the business.  This also means you will prepare, deliver and maintain the processes, precedents and training that supports the business.

Outside of a competitive remuneration package, we offer an extensive reward and benefits package.  You’ll be based in our Northampton offices and will need to have the flexibility to travel as required.  Work/life balance is important to us and you’ll find that here in plenty. Flexible working is a real thing here too.

We’re a FTSE250 business.  We’re the UK's largest distributor of building materials and we’re more than 20 brands strong across the Group..  We’ve been helping to build Britain for over 200 years.  We’re consistently recognised as one of the UK’s Top Employers.
