"We are looking for a Network Support Manager to run the team of technical experts who provide support and change services for the groups data and voice networks"
What you'll do
Managing a team of 5 people to provide 24/7 support for the TP groups data network and voice solutions in conjunction with our service provides. The team is also required to support change activity across all services as required.
The role also includes full lifecycle management of platforms; hardware and software - ensuring that delivery and service commitments are met. You will perform network maintenance to ensure the service remains available with minimal interruption
This role is a senior role within the Delivery and Run team and will involve leading and supporting the other network engineers to deliver new technologies as required into the end to end Network Service.
You will be required to;
- Lead the team, provide support, focus and direction in support of projects and day to service delivery
- Provides technical support and issue resolution for clients of the end to end Network Service, documenting standard internal processes for solutions and to transfer these into business as usual delivery.
- Escalates network issues to the appropriate support teams where outside of the scope of Service team and ensures that incident ownership is transferred and acknowledged.
- Monitor and manage work queues ensuring incidents are resolved or escalated within time, ensuring excellent communication of results to the customer in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the provision of an effective and efficient service to the Travis Perkins group business and in the proactive management of all systems to maintain a high degree of system uptime.
- Follow all technical and management procedures both internal and external to the department and assists in the identification and resolution of the deficiency or absence of procedures ensuring that all system documentation is created and maintained up to date.
- To assist in the implementation of projects and planned activities assigned and ensure adherence to the Travis Perkins group change procedures.
- Advise and escalate to the department and management tier both technical and operational issues where necessary and maintain a working knowledge of the Travis Perkins and Business management structure.
- Contribute to decommissioning plans where systems are no longer required.
Is this you...
- Certification in one or more Cisco Certifications (CCNP) Either professionally accredited or accredited by not less than 6 years relevant experience.
- Experience with VOIP components and converged networks and with Cisco IOS / NOS (Nexus).
- Advanced knowledge of: IP and Mobile Telephony technologies, Network virtualisation technologies, routing technologies & switching technologies:- BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and EIGRP and their appropriate usage.
- Advanced knowledge of network monitoring / platforms - Solarwinds, Nsight, etc.; of network analysis tools such as Wireshark etc.; of security / firewall technologies - ACLs, Proxies etc.; of wireless technologies and cloud technologies such as AWS.
- Team leadership and management within a relevant engineering space.
- Experience to be able to explain technical problems in simple terms.
While not essential, the following would be desirable…
BTEC, HND or degree in a computer sciences, information technology, or related field subject.
ITIL certified.
Experienced and conversant in Service Level Agreements and Operational Schedules.
Data Center technologies knowledge and experience.
Knowledge of high availability protocols such as VRRP, HSRP, LACP, PAGP.
Strong knowledge of IP protocols and how to implement them in a corporate environment.
