Rebate Finance Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Rebate Finance Manager to join us at our newly refurbished site in Northampton. This is a hugely exciting opportunity where you will be primarily accountable for all aspects of rebate (customer and supplier), contract claims accounting and cash management for the Plumbing & Heating division for Travis Perkins.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide clear leadership and manage a team of part qualified accountants. You’ll focus on optimisation of profit and cash flows, whilst ensuring that trading relationships with customers and suppliers are not damaged through this process. The division operates within a complex supply chain structure so this person will play a pivotal role in ensuring that rebates are correctly calculated and allocated across the business whilst also providing insight to aid strategic decision making within this area.
Responsibilities include:
Collection and accounting for ~£300m of supplier rebate income and ~£100m of supplier contract claims income as well as Payment of ~£20m of customer rebate expense
Optimisation of divisional profit and cash flows in respect of the above whilst maintaining strong supplier and customer relationships
Drive margin improvement from accuracy of calculation of rebate accruals and provision of insight into areas of opportunity on rebate deals
Management of rebate calculation and reporting tools used within the division with a view to improving current processes and system capabilities to drive efficiency and aid visibility
Effective management and development of 6 direct reports, including: Training, Development, Grievances, Disciplinary and any issues relating to poor performance
Working closely with the Commercial Finance teams to understand how commercial and operational decisions may affect the accounts and use this insight to produce meaningful commentary on both p&l and balance sheet position
Identification of risk and opportunity on supplier and customer rebate balances and ensure that appropriate provisions are raised for irrecoverable debt in line with company policy
Calculation of landed cost (taking into account currency fluctuations) for direct sourced product from overseas
What we are looking for
To be considered, you’ll need to be a qualified accountant with proven post qualification experience. It’s important for you to have experience of managing a team as well as providing training and developing to your direct reports. Your communication and interpersonal skills will be excellent to allow you to successfully engage with senior commercial, financial and operational staff across the business.
