We are looking for a truly inspirational Regional Director for our Benchmarx business, demonstrating vision and ability to lead from the front, drive ambitious growth through proven people and strategic management, whilst focusing on safety and our customers. This role covers our South East region.

The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for a headcount of 136 across 29 branches and a turnover of over £30m. These branches are located across the South East in Ashford, Bognor, Brighton, Broadstairs, Bromley, Canterbury, Catford, Crawley, Croydon, Eastbourne, Fareham, Farnborough, Farnham, Folkestone, Gillingham, Guildford, Hove, Leatherhead, Maidstone, Orpington, Petersfield, Sevenoaks, Shoreham, Sidcup, Sutton, Tunbridge Wells, Weybridge, Woking and Worthing.

Leading through your team of managers and working extensively with the Travis Perkins Regional Director and teams, influencing skills, at both a senior and operational level, are a prerequisite. Your role will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Benchmarx business, whilst maximising sales opportunities with new and existing customers.  Expected to proactively contribute to the Business Unit strategy you will ensure achievement and improvement upon the agreed target set in the annual operating plan and continuous improvement in line with the company 4 year plans.

Principle Responsibilities:
  • Provide visible leadership and support to the Benchmarx managers to drive performance and success across the region.
  • Through influencing our Regional Directors, you will ensure the delivery of high performance standards within your region in order to deliver the AOP, compliance, and best practice, promoting the Benchmarx offering at every opportunity.
  • Leading key change initiatives in the Benchmarx strategic plan to drive growth and business performance across the whole network.
  • Collaborate, support and partner with the TP RMD and RDs for the South East, you will represent Benchmarx and be accountable on the regional TP SLT.
  • Key contributor to the development of the longer term Benchmarx strategic plan.
  • You will prepare and agree with the Managing Director a plan to continually develop the Benchmarx business within your region.
  • You will review financial performance of the Benchmarx business to ensure monthly sales, margins, overheads and levels of utilisation are supporting the achievement of the AOP.  Where areas and trends of concern are identified, you’ll ensure appropriate plans exist to rectify promptly.
  • Working with the Stay Safe team to ensure that the Benchmarx business takes a proactive approach to all matters concerning Health & Safety in relation to colleagues, suppliers and customers.
  • You will lead, motivate and inspire a team of Branch Managers, Implant Managers and Showroom Managers in Benchmarx by taking a proactive role in recruitment, performance and career management and ensuring adequate succession plans are in place.
  • You will understand your competitive landscape and will foster solid relationships with your key customers in order to retain and build sales.

To succeed within this role, you will need to evidence multi-site experience within a senior operational and sales role with a proven track record in delivering outstanding sales and profit performance
(or) be able to clearly demonstrate the competency. Being a passionate, inspirational and engaging leader, you will have the ability to create and cultivate a “one team” approach through collaboration and motivation. With exceptional communication and influencing skills you will have the ability to engage with a diverse set of stakeholders and be able to make informed decisions.
