Do you enjoy working across multiple branches and have a passion for Transport Operations and Compliance, then look no further we have a new and exciting opportunity for a Regional Transport Manager to join our South East region and be based from our Regional office in Watford.  You’ll be managing and supporting our Transport Leads in all aspects of Transport Operations and Compliance across circa 70 of our branches located across 3 subregions in London, Essex and the Northern Home Counties.

You will be reporting to our Regional Operations Manager and working with the Regional Transport Leads, you will play a vital role in our continued success and be instrumental in ensuring a consistent efficient and safe operation of all our transport functions across branch, achieving service levels within time and budget.
 
 
Our working hours also offer a great work life balance. The working hours will be Monday-Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm and NO weekends (some flexibility will be required to suit the business needs)

Principle Accountabilities
  • Stay Safe - Set the tone and champion a Stay Safe culture across our branches, ensuring that Health and Safety regulations are adhered to and that staff are aware of their specific responsibilities.
  • Ensure that regulations relating to vehicles within the scope of the goods vehicles licensing of operators act are adhered to.
  • Operations - Ensure all transport related risk assessments, training records, driver licenses and other Health and Safety documentation is checked periodically.  Follow up action as necessary.
  • Support to ensure that all vehicles / trailers are inspected as per agreed time schedule in accordance with Goods Vehicle Operator License specifications, ensuring that defects are promptly rectified and all documentation is signed off.
  • To lead transport related incident to achieve an effective outcome
  • Customers - Liaise with Branch & Transport Management team to ensure that targets / aims are clearly identified.  Act as an immediate point of call for all transport related issues.
  • People - You will lead, coach and train our Regional Leads in branch, to ensure they are correctly supporting the branch across the transport operations, working together you will take accountability for success within the branch overall whilst working closely with the Branch Manager.
  • Develop and maintain a motivated team by the encouragement of open communications, hold formal briefing sessions and chair driver meetings as required. Attend other operational meetings as requested.

What skills do you need?
  • Must be up to date with industry & transport legislation.
  • Must have an appropriate driving licence and CPC training records.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise the work of self and others.
  • IT Literate
  • Good negotiation skills and able to manage conflict.
