What you'll do
Hybrid working – based within commutable distance of our Northampton or Bridgwater offices
Toolstation, part of the Travis Perkins Group, is one of the UK’s fastest growing retailers with a wave of impressive sales and a record-breaking year. But we’re not slowing down. Our Trade and DIY customers are working smarter, and we need to be even more agile in how we serve them. That means scaling fast and continuing our transformation into a customer-first, omni-channel retailer, seamlessly integrating online, mobile, and physical stores.
Behind every great customer experience is great availability - and that’s where you come in.
As a Demand Planner, you’ll own the demand forecast for a category portfolio, ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time. You’ll play a critical role in balancing customer demand with supply chain capability, helping us deliver availability while optimising stock and working capital.
You’ll work cross-functionally with Category, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Finance to build accurate, insight-led forecasts and continuously improve how we plan demand across the business.
Forecasting & Planning: Own and maintain accurate rolling forecasts (12–24 months), using historical data, trends, and system-generated insights to create a strong baseline demand plan.
Collaboration & S&OP: Work closely with Category, Supply Planning, and Customer teams to build a consensus forecast, contributing to the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and ensuring alignment across the business.
Promotional Planning: Plan and manage promotional forecasts, ensuring accurate uplifts, tracking performance, and applying learnings to improve future activity.
Performance & Insight: Monitor key KPIs such as Forecast Accuracy and Forecast Bias, identifying root causes of variance and taking action to continuously improve performance.
Product Life cycle Management: Manage demand across the full product lifecycle - from new product launches through to end-of-life. Ensuring smooth transitions and minimising excess stock or write-offs.
Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify risks to supply or demand plans and proactively recommend mitigation strategies to protect availability and performance.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Category, Supply Planning, Marketing, and Finance to ensure demand plans are aligned with commercial activity and operational constraints.
Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in forecasting processes, data quality, and system utilisation to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
What you'll bring
You’ll be naturally analytical, commercially aware, and confident working with data to influence decisions. You’re just as comfortable building forecasts as you are challenging them, using insight to drive better outcomes for the business.
You’ll also have:
Forecasting / Supply Chain experience:
Experience in demand planning, forecasting, or a similar analytical role, ideally within retail.
Analytical capability: Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret trends, identify risks, and turn insight into action. Advanced Excel skills are essential.
Systems knowledge: Experience using Slim4 is advantageous.
Collaboration & influencing: Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders without direct authority - confidently challenging assumptions where needed.
Commercial awareness: Understands the impact of forecasting decisions on sales, availability, and stock, balancing customer needs with business performance.
Attention to detail: Highly organised, with strong accuracy and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Attributes:
Customer-focused, curious, and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset. You’re comfortable working at pace, resilient to change, and motivated to make a real impact on how the business plans and performs. What you'll get
You’ll find every opportunity to be yourself and to bring your personality and potential to work. You’ll find a business where you can develop a fulfilling career, wherever you want – up the ladder or across the group. You’ll also be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with the role, contributory pension, BAYE and SAYE schemes, life assurance and discounts off Travis Perkins businesses and a range of other affiliate partners.
