Pegler & Louden has been in business as a valve distributor for over 110 years and is the specialist division within BSS Industrial for the supply of valves, actuators and flow control products.


P&L provides a single source for affordable, individual items, build assemblies and complete packages, using off the shelf and/or sourced product. 


Our  specialist teams help our customers by providing technical sales support to meet their requirements for process/industrial valve applications.



The Role


We are looking for a National Sales Director to join the Pegler and Louden/ BSS team to lead the strategy to drive forward our growth to achieve the national sales and profit targets.  With responsibility for leading the team you will work in support of the company and regional business plans


Principle Accountabilities:


  • Leading and implementing the Pegler & Louden strategy

  • Creation of the new Pegler & Louden proposition, including the creation of a new digital strategy 

  • Responsibility for leading the effective management and direction of sales and profit through the P&L Team and wider Technical Services Team

  • Influencing and building the product and sales strategy and managing the resources under P&L’s  control to meet its objectives. Proactively seeking opportunities to continually improve processes and new ways of working across the branch/region/business, utilising all methods of interaction whilst maintaining a cost effective approach, maximising productivity and sharing of best practice.

  • Providing an input to the sales and profit budget and to have a clear understanding of the market dynamics in the industrial valve sector.

  • Leading and role modelling for your team through effective recruitment, development, and management of performance. This should include setting clear objectives, work priorities, standards, and reviewing individual's performance against these.

  • Identifying current range and product gaps in the valve proposition, to create new suppliers and maintain current supplier relationships. Working with key stakeholders to influence and change.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships between the sales teams, BSS network, and suppliers in order to maximise the greatest opportunity through sales performance and customer potential.

  • Developing a network of contacts and customer partnerships through regular contact at all the appropriate levels.

  • Influencing and challenging senior level stakeholders



What are we looking for?


A demonstrable track record in delivering sales growth in an external leadership sales role is essential for this role.  Responsible for the creation of the new Pegler and Louden proposition, including a new digital strategy you will bring strong commercial acumen. Ideally you will have experience working with Valves & Industrial industry


You will have highly developed  customer relationship management skills and the ability to create and sustain long term partnerships.  


Exceptional communication and influencing skills are essential for the role, as you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships between the sales teams, BSS network, and suppliers in order to maximise the greatest opportunity through sales performance and customer potential.


A leader motivated by achieving results by developing a strong business through the focus on customer, supplier and colleague engagement.  You will be charismatic, highly motivated, innovative, tenacious and able to work in a fast paced environment. 


With experience of managing a target driven external sales team you will believe people are integral to business success and you will have the ability to engage, inspire and develop colleagues to overachieve.
