Senior DevOps Engineer

Want to work for an exciting e-commerce and Digital team?  As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining and supporting high quality cloud standards through automation for the whole Travis Perkins group.  Following good design practices, standards and approaches you will create solutions aligned to agreed design patterns and principles defined by the Digital Leadership team.

You will be responsible for:

• Implement quality automated infrastructure – use automation tools to provision and configure infrastructure as code, producing automated repeatable patterns through code that are fit for purpose. Contribute to the overall automation code base where appropriate using best practice of source control and merge requests.

• Is responsible for designs, follows standards and good approaches to create quality solutions that are fit for purpose.

• Is responsible for ensuring that pipelines and release mechanisms used by development teams are maintained and provide support for issues with the pipelines.

• Works within an iterative team centric approach to ensure continuous improvement and full life cycle management of platforms and applications.

• Responsible for the development and management of a catalogue of tools, standards and patterns that support the use of cloud infrastructure by E2E teams.

• Mentor and coach more junior members of the team to help build their skills and confidence.

• Provide technical guidance and ensure that quality, standards and best practice are adhered to. Coach development teams in the use of pipelines.

• Work as SME during the creation of a SOW and at lift off events and other times as appropriate.

• Commercial awareness - managing the costs of pipelines and environments. Contribute to decommissioning plans where systems / infrastructure is no longer required. Provision the most cost effective Cloud Infrastructure only when required - keeping up with new technology trends and options.

You will need the following…

• Software Engineering or Operations experience

• Experience of using automation to build infrastructure

• A good knowledge of how a pipeline works with continuous integration

• Cloud technology experience in particular AWS

• Great Linux administration skills

• Good knowledge of both infrastructure and developer practices

• The use of source control and merge requests
