We have an opportunity for a Hire Manager to join our flagship Tunbridge Wells branch. Our Tunbridge Wells branch is a successful and busy branch with a footfall of over 200 customers per day.  Our Branch Manager has created a fun and professional atmosphere; they have a team of 18 colleagues, including 4 in Hire. Recently renovated, the Hire department has a large and fully equipped workshop with 2 Hire-specific delivery vehicles.
 
The Hire Manager role at Travis Perkins is one of the most rewarding positions in our business, in which you will play a vital role in our continued success. It can be a destination role in itself, where you manage your own department, or a great entrypoint to building a successful career - Hire Managers often progress to Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager, and beyond.

Hours: 44.5 hours per week, including every other Saturday. The branch opening hours are Monday - Friday 7.30am - 5pm, Saturday 8.00am - 12.00pm. 
 
What will I be doing?
  • This is a varied and interesting hands-on role with no one day the same as the next; full training provided as required. 
  • You will manage all aspects of the Hire department including sales, transport, safety standards, workshop provision and servicing.
  • You will receive full training to use diagnostic equipment to test and run equipment, and carry out basic repairs. You will maintain the workshop to a high standard, ensuring all working areas are tidy and free from hazards and rubbish.
  • You will oversee and prioritise the work of the driver / fitter, ensuring your department performs well against all performance metrics. Our success is built on strong relationships so it’s essential you can coach and develop your team to deliver the highest standards of service.
  • You will work closely with the Branch Manager to develop and execute a sales action plan that strives to exceed sales and revenue targets on a monthly and annual basis.
  • You will establish and maintain the correct stock levels to ensure we're able to meet our customers' needs. You will source supplementary products from internal sources and external partners to maximise the sales and profit of your department.
  • With your learned knowledge of the products and services we offer, you will be a pivotal contact for our customers. Having great communication skills, you will nurture great relationships and understand their needs in order to offer expert advice.
  • You’ll be part of the senior leadership team in the branch, supporting the delivery of our 'Doing What Matters' strategy through operational effectiveness, leading from the front, making sure we provide a first class service, controlling costs, and keeping colleagues and customers safe within the branch at all times.
What experience do you need?
  • Previous hire industry experience, or a good understanding of electrical/mechanical/engine equipment would be advantageous, but not essential. 
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
